Mercedes Benz First All Electric EQ

Published: 25 September 2017

The new Mercedes first all electric EQ vehicle stand-out features include the implementation of two powerful electric motors, Mercedes’ new ‘Sensual Purity’ design and technology that includes inductive charging and laser fibre headlights.

Mercedes claims that the two electric motors can reach a total output of over 200kW, thanks to scalable battery components – almost twice the output of the new Nissan Leaf.
The maximum torque is also rated at 369lb ft and Mercedes also claims a 0-62mph time of around 5 seconds.
“With our Concept EQA we have reinterpreted our design philosophy of Sensual Purity and developed the Modern Luxury into a Progressive Luxury for our EQ brand,” eclaimed Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer, Daimler AG.
“We eliminated creases and lines and reached the next level of purity. With its stunning proportions, seamless flowing surfaces, combined with stimulating graphics using high tech black panels, it is definitively a bold design statement.
Dr Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz, adds: "Our electric initiative is gathering pace.
By 2022 Mercedes-Benz will have launched more than ten all-electric vehicles on the market. And the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQA proves that we are serious about introducing electric mobility throughout the portfolio.
Mercedes also says that its new EQA can manage around 249 miles on a single charge, and that the car’s rapid charging capabilities can make 62 miles-worth of range available in 10 minutes.
The EQA concept can be charged via a wallbox plug or via induction like wireless charging on the latest smartphones.
